Nora Corbett Siren's Song HD

So there she is!!! She was a breeze...if I wasn't booked obsessed at the moment I could have finished her in at least half the time. I love love her colors! She is so different! I plan to frame her myself, best that I can so I can just hang her up ASAP. I want to be able to see her everyday. Now that she is done I will be starting Gypsy Mermaid. I am working her on Sea Lilly Linen..I am a little bummed about going back to 32ct after using 28 for weeks but I know it will look awesome. At least I will be able to see the chart really well! Siren's chart is super small! Plan to blow it up, like I didn't do and definitely should have, hah. :) Thanks for looking!

Upate on SIren'sSong :)

Here is my beautiful mermaid tail, all stitched from the center down except for beads. Gorgeous colors I think, she is very unusual and I love that. I have stitched on nothing but those ribbons for 2 days now...you know, a mermaid's got to have her ribbons. hehe They really did add a lot of elegance to her. I am going to leave off the 2 skinny antennae looking parts on either side of her...I don't really want them. Other than that I won't change a thing! Thanks for looking!!! :) Melissa

Nora Corbett Siren's Song WIP

I have a great start on this sweet little mermaid. I am enjoying her very much! I would have more done, but I got hooked into not one but two book series that I read over about a week about 6 books all together, yikes! My brain is tired, lol. Now I am on a god track with the stitching though and with as small as she is, it is highly tempting top just work oh her til she's done. May or may not do that. :D The chart is small. I don't *think* its just me. Be prepared to enlarge it. I didn't, and my eyes adjusted, but it would have been easier in so many ways if I had. She is all printed on one side and really, I think Wichelt could have made her bigger. Thanks for looking! :) <3 Melissa

Red Riding Hood Update!

I took a break from Tahiti and black work turtles to finish up Red's skirt. It was very refreshing. :D She is pretty amazing...the colors are vivid its hard to get that to show. Today I will get back to Tahiti. Though I am tempted to work on Faerie Winter Dreams. I am almost there! I will pick up a Nora design soon I think. I ordered the chart and supplies for Sirens Song so hopefully will have it next week. I splurged and ordered a Caribbean Blue Jobelan...from Wichelt or something. Not a private type hand dyed. But I think it will be beautiful for her! Thanks for looking!

More Tahiti!! :)

I have worked really hard to get this far. I had an unexpected day off work and pretty much stitched, all day. Currently I am working to finish off the blue circle so I can move on to the shells, turtles and fruit ornaments. Lots of work still! I hope I can get finished before part 2 comes out. I love the new Nora Corbett mermaid, the pixie sized one! I ordered her and I hope I can stitch on her. I have lost my mojo to work on Nora's stiff at the moment, hopefully she will bring it back. I love her hair, and the colors. She is a gorgeous little thing!! But Tahiti remain priority because I really really want to stay caught up all year on it. Fingers crossed!! Thanks for looking! <3

Tahiti and Red Riding Hood

Since I am doing the DMC suggestions from Martina, plus a few DMC color variations and Thread Worx choices of my own, I have my stuff and am working away! I got the Silk Lame's and Treasure Braid today and they are gorgeous!! I am so glad I splurged and got them...I am using 32 opalescent Jobelan for this. I was pretty set for it from the start, I didn't have to think about fabric options to much. :) And here is Red... She is coming along beautifully. I had to order more of the Buckeye Scarlett and pecan Pie (you will need 2 of each of these) and they came in with the bulk of my Tahiti materials. She is a great project to take to work or other places since she is easy to work on with so few colors. Plus, she looks impressive I like to show her off. Thanks for looking! Have a good weekend!

Red Riding Hood

Well, I knew if I let myself put even one stitch on this project I would be sunk and would not put it down. I WAS RIGHT! I am still working on it, and here is my progress: am sooo enjoying working on her! After all the tediousness of HAED's and Chatelaine's she is a breath of fresh air! Slightly haunting, so simple and beautiful. She is really perfect. <3

Pretty fibers...

Last night, I started stitching Red Riding Hood by the Primitive Hare. I really love this design! Only 4 colors are used, to of them Gentle Art Sampler threads (which are not expensive). I am loving that red one! This one is the first in a new series. I can't wait to see more of them!! A new Chatelaine design!!! Tahiti.... (I cannot get another chatelaine i cannot get another chatelaine i cannot get another chatelaine) But I want it!!!!! Speaking of Chatelaines, here is my latest progress on the current mystery, French Kitchen Garden: I am so close to getting the center done! Its hard to stick with it...it seems like you're getting nowhere fast but I do see a lot of progress since last time, comparing pics. And its looking so good! I am excited to get to the other parts, which are smaller and sooo pretty! Lots of nice details! Check out the Chatelaine BB for pics of them, from other stitchers. :D

Found a kit that I really like!

She is called A Touch of Gold and is by Bucilla, for only $30! I think her face is so pretty! I may have to get this next month, to celebrate spring. :D I will wait a couple weeks to make sure it isn't a passing fancy, lol. OK here is mystery 16 ugh. I am doing a lot of sighing while I work on this. I am not sure why I? I am a HAED stitcher, good grief this is nothing compared to those! But as you can see, I have made some progress. Its very slow going. Not only are we dealing with fairly heavy confetti, but there are lots of quarter stitches. All those missing spots in otherwise completed areas will be special stitches to give some texture. Its going to be gorgeous, and I am happy to say that my conversion is looking great compared with other pieces so I am happy about all of that, but MAN will I ever be done with part 1??! lol Its been a trip! So that's what I am working on right now. I finally managed to quit reading like a maniac and stitch again. That should help. ;) Thank you so much for looking! I appreciate all of the encouragement from everyone. I am feeling much better about my banishment from the Facebook group now, I think I am past it. I have several other groups that I enjoy that are great places to hang out and very fairly moderated. You just have to find the right fit. :) Melissa

Two mermaids to love :)

I am sort of trying to talk myself into taking on a big HAED and I am looking at these two mermaids: Adrift and Bathtime by Selina Fenech: I really like them both! I love the Bathtime, I am a huge bath person. Well, I was until we moved and still *had* a bathtub that is. But when I look at Adrift, I feel relaxed, like I am the one floating easily on those waves. She brings out very soothing thoughts. I may not get either one I am just thinking right now. Which is your favorite? Aside from scheming to add projects I don't need, I am still working with Mystery 16. That and still reading. I got a kindle fire for Christmas and it really brought back my reading itch. I love reading on it...you can take a bunch of books wherever you go in a small slim package. Awesome. :) I LOVE that you can get free samples of the books, to see if its the kind of story that will grab you or not. They are usually a decent length too. Besides that I have Netflix on it, for me and my daughter to watch TV shows and some movies. We had to let satellite TV go long ago, to expensive! Its a small screen but we are good with that. Meanwhile the men of the house use the TV and computer for sports stuff. It all works out! I hope everyone is having a great week so far! :) Melissa

French Kitchen Garden

So I am still not done with part 1! Geeze, this is taking forever. I have been reading a whole lot lately so that explains part of it. Otherwise, I just feel like I am in slow motion when I am working on it. I am going to try my best to hang with it until I finish part 1. Then hopefully, I will be inspired enough to go ahead with part 2. I really want to catch up if I can... We are out of school today so I took all the kids to town for necessities. They actually did pretty well, considering. Tomorrow we have a cool church thing to do (food involved, lol) so we have a full weekend ahead. I am hoping to take a walk Sunday with my sister. yesterday, when I was speeding up and down the lass at school delivering messages I realized that I really miss walking! Plus I need to drop 5 pounds or so by August. 10 would be nice...but I don't torture myself. ;) Thanks for looking! Melissa PS I am doing a conversion for my French Garden, I only bought 1 silk the rest are similar variegated cottons or the recommended DMC option. javascript:void(0);

A little progress on Winter Faeire Dreams

Here lately, I have been reading like crazy! I am not sure what came over me but I have found myself unable to put a book down and do some stitching. I did make good progress on my sweet little fairy: I got kicked out of the Mira group on Facebook yesterday. :( I am very upset about it, but there is nothing to be done. They were forcing us to sign a roll call with a statement in it that I could not agree to. After trying to reason with the admins, and making a post to explain why I couldn't sign it (I just wanted my friends to know why I would be disappearing), I was booted, within 5 minutes. It was very disturbing and upsetting. I actually still can't believe that it happened. I promise I am not a trouble maker. I have behaved according to the rules the entire time I have been a member, about a year I think it was. I understand they needed to see who was still an active member but the way they are doing it, and refusing to back off the statement they made, is just plain nuts! They told me they didn't mean it the way it sounded, it was just a play on words. If that was the case I think they would have been willing to reword for me, and others who were bothered by it. Since they didn't, I can only assume they DO mean it and the group is heading in a direction I don't wish to be a part of anyway. But I will miss it! I was there several times a day, had friends and so enjoyed looking at, and commenting on, everyones pics. Power abusers..I thought of that this morning. "We can boot her for not agreeing with us so lets do". Thats what happened, basically... Oh well, whining aside! I am still going to stitch Mira's of course, I am planning to buy the new one ASAP. There are other places to share and see pics that existed before that group so I guess its time to go back to the originals. :) Thanks for reading, and sorry for the lengthy whine, I needed to talk about it. I will do my best to forget it and not bring it up again..lol. Melissa

Chatelaine Mystery 16

I decided to jump in there with Mystery 16, even though I am already doing Deep Blue Sea and Serengeti...and I must admit that at first it was really hard to hang in there with it but now that I am seeing real progress I love it! I worked out a conversion of variegated fibers in cottons, as usual. And am using all the called for DMC. Meanwhile, I am truly in love with The Siren and the Shipwreck... Must have!! I am thinking the chart next month, the materials the next...we'll see. :) I am also working away on Faerie Winter Dreams: And finally, Cmon Monde's Miss Paris: I've been a very bad blogger lately, lol! I am going to contrive to do better now. :) Thanks for looking at my work!
